Panthers in the Mock Drafts

Panthers in the Mock Drafts: Brandin Cooks

Brandin Cooks, WR OSU

Alright, the season is officially over, and I needed to take a few days off from writing, but I’m over it the loss now, and it’s time to move over to off-season mode. In the past few seasons, while the Panthers have struggled and been out of playoff contention early, I have become more and more interested in the draft process, in particular the players projected to potentially land in Carolina. With that being said, I will start focusing on some of the players being mocked to us by the experts. It likely won’t be all the same experts each week, but some will make weekly appearances.

It was in the last week and a half or so, that mock drafts started coming out in full force, and there were a few constants in the ones I saw:

Eric Galko (Bleacher Report): Brandin Cooks, WR OSU

Dan Kadar (SB Nation): Odell Beckham Jr, WR LSU

Dane Brugler (CBS Sports): Allen Robinson, WR PSU

Mel Kiper Jr. (ESPN): Brandin Cooks, WR OSU

Daniel Jeremiah (NFL): Jarvis Landry, WR LSU

Bucky Brooks (NFL): Brandin Cooks, WR LSU

One thing is clear, all of these experts see a major need for the Panthers; Wide Receiver. I think all Panthers fans knew this was a need, but it became much more glaring when Steve Smith missed the last two games of the year and our passing game basically disappeared.

Let’s face it, the Panthers have gone long enough without putting ample pieces in place around Cam Newton in the passing game, and it’s time we go ahead and do that. Basically every other team who has recently drafted a young quarterback has loaded the talent in around him.

I like all of these guys that have been mocked to us, and over the next week or so, I will single out each of them, including a highlight video. Until then, what do you think Panthers fans, which of these guys would you most like to see in the Black and Blue next year? Go Panthers, Keep Pounding!

He was mocked to us a lot early, but not this week. I would imagine that will start happening more moving forward. I like his game. Dude is a stud.
